panGenerator is a group dealing with new media art. Using new technology panGenerator – literally and metaphorically – constructs spatial interactive installations, often on commission for cultural institutions and business companies. Projects made by them integrate new digital media with rare spatial forms and engaging interaction.

During the 1st MDF Festival edition they created a SPIRALALALA installation on one of the most characteristic space in the Philharmonic – spiral stairs. The stairs were made into well in which the visitors’ voices got material and visual form.

Now, they will present what new tools they use in their work, how they combine art with information technology and what processes occur behind creating their fascinating installations.

„Godzina dla Ziemi” prawdopodobnie jednak nie uchroni nas przed kłopotami. Konsumpcja energii rośnie, a miasta mają w niej coraz większy udział. Być może czekają nas prawdziwe i długotrwałe blackouty? Eksperci energetyczni już dziś biją na alarm, że to realne ryzyko i ostrzegają, że powinniśmy radykalnie zmienić swoje nawyki energetyczne. Jak więc wobec alarmujących informacji o stanie klimatu podchodzić do łuny bijącej od naszych miast. Czy nawoływanie do rozsądnego gospodarowania energią nie kłóci się czasem z rozrzutnymi świątecznymi iluminacjami, jakimi szczycą się nasze miasta czy całonocnym oświetlaniem kluczowych zabytków. Może w trosce o planetę powinniśmy nie tylko wyjmować z gniazdek ładowarki naszych telefonów, ale także zasilacze reflektorów efektownie rozświetlających zabytki i ikony architektury. Czy jednak będziemy umieli na nowo odnaleźć się w mroku? Odpowiedzi na te pytania szukać będziemy wspólnie z zaproszonymi gośćmi, dla których światło i miasto nie mają tajemnic.

Traffic Design
Gdyńskie Stowarzyszenie Traffic Design prowadzi działania projektowe i edukacyjne skoncentrowane wokół estetyki i sztuki w przestrzeni publicznej. Ich flagowe projekty to Biennale Sztuki Miejskiej Traffic Design, czy projekt re:design, którego istotą jest przemiana frontów lokalnych biznesów, a przez to – estetyczna transformacja ulicy. Na swoim koncie mają kompleksowe realizacje estetyzacyjne w Trójmieście, Warszawie oraz w innych miastach. Murale, szyldy, projekty artystyczne realizują całościowo, nadzorując fazę projektową i wykonawczą. Do Szczecina na spotkanie “światło i miasto” przyjedzie Monika Domańska – współzałożycielka Stowarzyszenia Traffic Design oraz centrum tuBAZA. Z wykształcenia socjolożka, medioznawczyni i entuzjastka miasta. Na co dzień realizuje projekty związane ze sztuką i estetyką przestrzeni publicznej, animacją kultury, budowaniem strategii marek oraz badaniem trendów.

Filip Springer
Rocznik ’82, reporter i fotograf. Jego reporterski debiut „Miedzianka. Historia znikania” (Czarne 2011) znalazł się w finale Literackiej Nagrody NIke i Nagrody im. Ryszarda Kapuścińskiego. Kolejne książki reporterskie („Źle Urodzone. Reportaże o architekturze PRL”, „Wanna z kolumnadą. Reportaże o polskiej przestrzeni”, „Zaczyn. O Zofii i Oskarze Hansenach”, „13 pięter”, „Księga Zachwytów”) traktują o problemach polskiej przestrzeni i architektury. W 2016 roku ukazała się książka „Miasto Archipelag. Polska mniejszych miast” będąca pokłosiem większego projektu dokumentalnego poświęconego byłym miastom wojewódzkim. W 2018 roku ukazał się jego mini debiut prozatorski, książka „Zegarmistrz” wydana w ramach Kolekcji Wrzesińskiej. Filip Springer mieszka i pracuje w Warszawie, współpracuje z Instytutem Reportażu, wykłada w Polskiej Szkole Reportażu.

Magazyn Miasta
Piszeą o wszystkim, co ważne w miastach – od polityki miejskiej, urbanistyki i architektury, poprzez innowacje w zarządzaniu i w produktach oferowanych mieszkańcom aż po najciekawsze i twórcze sposoby spędzania wolnego czasu w miejskiej przestrzeni.
Martyna Obarska – Wicenaczelna. Antropolożka miasta. Bada inicjatywy na styku architektury, urbanistyki i działań społecznych. Ponadto specjalizuje się w tematyce wykorzystania nowych technologii w mieście. Prowadzi warsztaty badawcze i szkolenia z urzędnikami, przedstawicielami organizacji pozarządowych i seniorami. Współpracowała z Instytutem Badań Przestrzeni Publicznej. Wykładała historię warszawskich osiedli mieszkaniowych na Uniwersytecie Warszawskim (Instytut Kultury Polskiej), a obecnie współtworzy moduł studiów miejskich w ramach nowego kierunku poświęconego projektowaniu innowacji School of Ideas w SWPS. Autorka książki o warszawskiej dzielnicy MDM.

Sklep ilumina.pl od 2007 roku oferuje najszerszy na polskim rynku wybór lamp i urządzeń do światłoterapii. W ich ofercie znajdują się fińskie lampy antydepresyjne INNOLUX, ale także np. okulary do światłoterapii czy budziki świetlne. Wszystkie urządzenia mają status wyrobów medycznych. Dorota Kołodziejczyk (graphic designer, ilustrator) oraz Bartosz Wójcicki PuH (artysta wizualny, VJ, motion designer), czyli kreatywne Pushka Studio. Poruszają się w obszarach nowych mediów z mocnym naciskiem na motion design, 3D wideo mapping, instalacje multimedialne i projektowanie scenografii. Pushka Studio to zespół profesjonalistów napędzanych pasją. Zwycięzcy VJ Battle podczas Interference Festival 2015. Finaliści konkursu Circle of Light 2016 Moscow International Festival oraz Polish Graphic Design Awards 2018. Mają na swoim koncie wiele realizacji w kraju i za granicą, m.in. w Opolu, Warszawie, Paryżu, Berlinie, Moskwie, Brukseli oraz na Malcie. Additionally the concert will feature KLARK (Kamil Durski from Lily Hates Roses) and BEMY which the audience might already know from their music collaboration with A_GIM. All this will take place in the area musiacally inaccessible till now – in the underground Philharmonic’s car park. Music and light will take us there.

A_GIM
Agim Dżeljilji is one of the most experienced electronic music producers in Poland. Mamy times nominated to Fryderyk award. Since 2004, being an Öszibarack co-founder, he has realeased four longplays which were so successful that it resulted in being invited to play at festivals (Eurosonic and Europavox among others). Also, as a producer he cooperated with Husky. Over the last couple of years together with Igor Pudło from Skalpel and Janek Młynarski he co-created a project called Nervy in which he could combine his love for synth sound with live instruments. Presently, he continues his work solo, supported by brass section with whom he played live in a cult Berlin club Berghain. A_GIM is also a producer, who likes remixing others artists’ pieces – Baasch, Novika and Hey among others.



KLARK
Most of the audience know him from altpop duo Lilly Hates Roses. Kamil Durski whose stage pseudo is Klark, is one of the most interesting artistic vocals of a young generation. Together with Kasia Golomska he released two well-received albums in which instrumental and dreamy arrangements go with melancholy vocals. Being a solo artist he flirts with other music genres like romantic and rhythmic face of techno and minimal. In 2017 Klark appears on an A_GIM’s debut EP ‘Votulia’ featuring a song ‘Rajka’.



BEMY
A band founded by two brothers from France. Elie and Mattia were born in Bordeaux in France where they started composing music at a young age. Being teenagers they moved to England to study in Music Academy in Guildford. At present, they live and record in Warsaw as BEMY. Their music is a mix of such genres as indie, French electro or blues. Their debut album ‘Grizzlin’, produced by Bogdan Kondracki, was released in 2017. So far they have been awarded in many prestigous competitions (Top Trendy, Woodstock, Jarocin). Also, they supported Ed Sheeran at the National Stadium and during Hungarian festival ‘Sziget’. They featured A_GIM’s EP ‘Votulia’ in a piece ‘Carpet Burn’.

Duet audiowizualny, tworzony przez, Bartosza Webera i Wiktora Podgórskiego. Webera znać można z Baaby, Mitch & Mitch, czy Slalomu. Jego solowa muzyka jest zdecydowanym powrotem w stronę elektroniki. Początkowo założeniem był odwrót od świata cyfrowego i podróż w stronę analogowego brzmienia. Miłość do samplingu w pewnym momencie wzięła jednak górę. Wiktor studiował grafikę na krakowskiej ASP, ale muzyka zawsze była mu bardzo bliska. Przez lata grywał amatorsko z przyjaciółmi, co sprawiło, że łatwiej tworzą mu się skojarzenia z rytmem, dźwiękiem, nastrojem. Zawodowo zajmował się zaś projektowaniem multimedialnych ekspozycji muzealnych. Praca z przestrzenią, pozwala zrozumieć, jak ludzie się w niej zachowują, jak odbierają pewne sygnały, które chcemy im przekazać.



Broshuda
Zdradzając szeroki wachlarz wpływów w zakresie kompozycji, muzyka Broshudy zawiera w sobie elementy sztuki dźwięku, techniki elektroakustyczne, przetworzone słowo mówione i nagrania terenowe, a także bardziej rytmicznie utwory wypełnione ciężkimi bitami.

Podążając śladami legendarnej społeczności artystycznej Fluxus, Broshuda znalazł inspirację w interdyscyplinarnym etosie ich twórczości. Ta sama postawa jest widoczna w jego utworach muzycznych, co skutkuje szczegółowymi szkicami, które jednocześnie pokazują i ukrywają ich wewnętrzną logikę podczas komunikowania szeregu starannie wyodrębnianych emocji i uczuć.

Towarzyszyć mu będzie kolektyw Fatamorgana. Warszawską grupę wizualizatorów Fatamorgana tworzą Mikołaj Chylak, Zuzanna Kofta i Tomasz Melissa. Artyści działają na żywo, w kooperacji z muzykami tworzącymi muzykę eksperymentalną i improwizowaną.

Lily Haz
DJka i producenka pochodząca z Tel Awiwu. DJ – rezydentka w Teder FM i Romano w Tel Awiwie. Publikowała swoją muzykę nakładami takich wytwórni jak Tom Tom Disco, Night Noise i Tofistock; miksy DJskie w Lullabies for insomniacs, hipnotyczny groove, Oko DJ 'pussy nightmare' w radiu LYL, wytwórnii Riotvan z Pantherą Krause, Red Light Radio i nie tylko.

For the sole purpose of the performance, original software was created that based on the sounds played by the band, steers the performance’s visuals. The show will definitely be a great portion of fun and knowledge for both the youngest and adult, more experienced listeners.

In Urlicht project Kwadrofonik creates a form of variation based on a universal music theme – chant and its counterpoint – that is played separately or forms a dialogue. At the same time, the musicians refer to light as the life-giving energy, some kind of force present in the ancient myths and tales. Something that has always inspired humankind to self-development and widening horizons. Visuals that will enrich the concert are created by Pushka Studio from Szczecin. It will be a true music-light journey into the past and to the future.

One of the most prolific and original artists in Poland nowadays. Being just a toddler, Marcin Masecki looped American big bands on his record player. He made his first steps listening to ragtime, and he formed his first jazz trio as a teenager (together with Wojciech Pulcyn and Grzegorz Grzyb). After that he played jazz in Alchemik. When he studied in Boston, he started flirting with free jazz and improvisation that could hardly be classified. When he moved back to Poland he joined a record label – Lado ABC and he stepped back from playing jazz and started being active in an independent music arena (Paristetris), as well as in classical music (Bach, Mozart, Beethoven). Soon, the time came to start composing, conducting, and making film music. In the last years he gradually started approaching jazz again. First, founding a traditional bigband, which – more than once – gave a music accompaniment to dancings, then realising his childhood dream of performing ragtime. Making a classical trio was just a matter of time, and the time has come now.
During MDF Festival 2019 he will perform with Jerzy Rogiewicz on drums and Piotr Domagalski on double bass, together forming Marcin Masecki’s Jazz Trio. They know each other inside out. Jazz is their blood. They are longing for this to happen. They will be joined by Grzegorz Tarwid – a pianist and a composer, known from Sundial project by Jachna-Tarwid-Karch trio and a Diomede duo. The initiator and curator of piano festival Piano Room. Recognised as one of the most talented pianist of a new generation.
Music for the Royal Fireworks by Georg Friedrich Händel was created in 1749 on George II of Great Britain's commission following the end of war with Austria and signing the peace treaty in Aachen. The composition was about to glorify the fireworks show planned on April 27th, 1749 in London. Unfortunately, not everything on that day went according to plan. The concert ended nearly in disaster as there was heavy rain and fire caused by failed fireworks show which consumed decorations made specially for this event. Despite the problems, the audience was enchanted by the overture. The piece itself underwent some changes because the king on whose commission the music was composed wished it could be performed outside, best if the instruments used sounded military-like (wind and percussion). That was the reason the composer had to leave the strings out. Therefore, the composition included 24 oboes, 12 bassoons, 9 trumpets, 9 horns, 3 pairs of timpani and snare drums. After the show, Händel rewrote the piece adding violins, violas and cellos.
Like 270 years ago, now during the first day of MDF Festival the music performance will be boosted with fireworks show. Though there won’t be real fireworks, it will still be similarly spectacular. The visuals that on this day will add colour to a specially designed stage are produced by Pushka Studio.

We will make experiments with pinhole projector which will reveal camera obscura phenomenon. With the help of mirrors and lenses we will see if we can send the picture from distance. Thanks to all these experiments we will grasp how optic and light phenomena gave way to creating photography.

Born in Birmingham, Laura Mvula began her music career in the church, where she performed with gospel choirs. She quickly began writing her own works and studied composition at the Birmingham Conservatory. Laura delighted the world in 2013, when she made her debut album ‘Sing To The Moon’, nominated i.a. to the Mercury Prize and recognized as one of the most important British albums of that year.

In 2016, the artist released her next album ‘The Dreaming Room’, which leaves even more space for the characteristic, captivating voice and arrangements of Laura. The album still features her heavenly vocalises, enriched with the sounds of analogue synthesizers and guitars. Mvula's music is more than just great tunes. The single ‘Overcome’ promoting the album, enhanced with the funky guitar of legendary Nile Rodgers, touches upon the topic of civil rights, and not without reason is associated with the poem by Maya Angelou, an icon of African-American literature.



Having been working on the album, the artist was accompanied by Troy Miller – composer, multi-instrumentalist and music producer, who collaborated with such stars as Adele, Mark Ronson, Gregory Porter, Chaka Khan, Macy Gray, Grace Jones and Donna Summer. Miller decided to develop the characteristic sounds from the album and arrange the whole material for a symphony orchestra. ‘The Dreaming Room’ repeated the success of Laura Mvula’s debut album. During the final concert of the MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM 2019 Festival taking place at the Symphony Hall of the Szczecin Philharmonic, Laura Mvula, will be accompanied by musicians of the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and conductor Troy Miller. During that evening, the audience can expect a spectacle, a dream, in which light and music will play the main roles.

Laura Mvula
Being a native of Birmingham, Laura Mvula is an artist who combines classical music education with the creativity and charisma of the neo-soul and jazz star. She gained global recognition for the first time in 2013 when she released her debut album ‘Sing to the Moon’, which features her spiritual voice with rich, psychedelic soundscapes. Wonderfully received by both the critics and the audience, the album opened her the path to further experiments. The 2016 album ‘The Dreaming Room’ developed Laura’s search with a lively orchestral sound palette, to the creation of which she invited producer and conductor Troy Miller.

Troy Miller
Troy Miller is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, conductor and music producer. His rare talent goes far beyond the genres of musical art. He started his career as a drummer, performing and recording, among others with Roy Ayers and Amy Winehouse. He produced for such artists as Adele, Chaka Khan, Macy Gray, Gary Bartz, Daniel Merriweather, Gloria Gaynor, Grace Jones, Donna Summer, Jamie Cullum, Gregory Porter and Mark Turner. For nearly ten years, he performed under the stage names ‘Yamaha Artist’ and ‘Sabian Artist’, holding many music masterclasses. Hus conducting led him to such orchestras as the London Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Orchestra. He studied at the Guildhall School of Music, where he currently holds the post of a visiting professor.

Dorota Kołodziejczyk (graphic designer, ilustrator) oraz Bartosz Wójcicki PuH (artysta wizualny, VJ, motion designer), czyli kreatywne Pushka Studio. Poruszają się w obszarach nowych mediów z mocnym naciskiem na motion design, 3D wideo mapping, instalacje multimedialne i projektowanie scenografii. Pushka Studio to zespół profesjonalistów napędzanych pasją. Zwycięzcy VJ Battle podczas Interference Festival 2015. Finaliści konkursu Circle of Light 2016 Moscow International Festival oraz Polish Graphic Design Awards 2018. Mają na swoim koncie wiele realizacji w kraju i za granicą, m.in. w Opolu, Warszawie, Paryżu, Berlinie, Moskwie, Brukseli oraz na Malcie. Pushka Studio jest partnerem MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM Festival 2019.
